For those of you who don't know, HTC is a manufacturer of cell, PDA and mini computing devices. They revealed to the public yesterday the G1: the first cellphone to ship with the Google built Operating System, Android. Although the phone offers the highly anticipated software from Google, the phone physically does not look so appealing. It's taller, thicker and heavier than the iPhone 3G.The feature set of the G1 is pretty similar to the 3G. The biggest advantages to the G1 are a full QWERTY keyboard, a 1.2MP gain over the 3G (Totaling 3.2MP) and the idea of not having Steve Jobs (A.K.A. The Man) and his cult breathing down your neck... Oh wait, you'll just have Google there instead (A.K.A. Big Brother).
Do I hear a lesser of two evils debate coming on? Kind of sounds like politics...
What do I think? Well, I think it's no iPhone killer... I can almost guarantee that. I like the idea that HTC and Google might be throwing a decent amount of competition at Apple which could motivate Apple to make a better product and a better software development policy. I think that the phones potential to run almost any program will challenge the iPhone and it's lack of Java and other key languages.
What else do I think?
I think Google is blatantly plotting to take over the world with this software... Come on people, they named it Android! Do I need to remind you of what an android is?
Android: a mobile robot usually with a human form
Mobilized ROBOTS! Buyer beware, if you are lasered to death by your HTC Dream, my theory has become fact. We will all be lasered to death by robot-phones... God save us all...
